Quarterback Ian Craddock rushed for four touchdowns, passed for another and kicked six PATs, leading Carpinteria to a 42-19 non-league football win over visiting Santa Clara on Friday night at Carpinteria Valley Memorial Stadium.
“He did a great job running the offense,” Carpinteria coach Ben Hallock said of Craddock, a three-year varsity starter.
Craddock ran 15 yards to put the Warriors on the scoreboard in the first quarter. He followed that with a 77-yard scoring strike to Duncan Gordon.
Tim Jimenez scored on a 19-yard run and Craddock ran in from 7 yards for a 28-0 lead.
Santa Clara got a touchdown just before the half on a 28-yard pass, making it 28-6.
Craddock scored twice more in the second half on runs of 1 and 59 yards.
Hallock said he felt the team played pretty well, but the players were not satisfied with their performance in their fifth straight win.
“Five and O feels great,” Hallock said. “I’m pleased for our guys. But they were subdued after the game. They felt they could have played better. That’s a nice point of view, to be 5-0 and feel like you can play better.”
The Warriors travel to St. Monica next Friday before beginning Tri-Valley League play the following week against Bishop Diego.
