INGLEWOOD — Bishop Diego’s football team didn’t miss a beat after a bye week.
The Cardinals roared out to a 24-0 lead at halftime and finished with a 45-0 win over Inglewood on Friday night. The top-ranked team in the Northwest Division improved 5-0 heading into a showdown with San Diego Section small schools power Sante Fe Christian next Saturday in Solana Beach.
Christian Pearson scored an offensive touchdown to get the Cardinals rolling. Pearson, who has returned interceptions for scores as a linebacker, caught a screen pass from quarterback Anthony Carter and rambled 45 yards for a touchdown with 2:33 left in the first quarter.

Abel Gonzalez capped a 70-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run and Danny Molina ran over from 2 yards out to complete an 85-yard drive with 1:42 left in the second quarter.
Even the kicking game was working. Santiago Bollag booted a 42-yard field goal just before the end of the first half, giving the Cardinals a 24-0 lead.
In the second half, Carter had a 1-yard TD run, Nolan Tooley caught a 3-yard scoring toss from Gabe Molina and Nunzio Bilotti scored on a 5-yard run to finish the scoring.
