Santa Barbara High alum Taylor Rochestie, who went on to star at Washington State, has landed with a new European professional basketball team in Siena, Italy.

In a press conference held Monday in Siena, Montepaschi announced the addition of Taylor Rochestie and Othello Hunter for the next season. Rochestie (1.85 meters, 28 years old) is a point guard arriving from Angelico Biella of the Italian League, where last season he averaged 13.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 16 games. He had started the season with Laboral Kutxa of Spain, and played 4 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games, averaging 1.5 points and 1.0 steals. He is a globetrotter that has also played in France, Germany and Turkey.
EuroLeague.net projects Rochestie to play starting point guard. Joining Rochestie in the starting five are fellow Americans Daniel Hackett (USC) and Josh Carter (Texas A&M), and Italians Marco Carraretto and center Tomas Ress.
Montepaschi plays in Italy’s Serie A and reached the EuroLeague’s Final Four in 2011 and the quarterfinals in 2012.
Rochestie graduated from Santa Barbara High in 2004.
