Six representatives from the Santa Barbara Masters team made a strong showing at the recent Marriott U.S. Masters Swimming Summer Nationals in Mission Viejo.
Santa Barbara captured five national titles and placed 37th out of 181 teams.
Adrienne Brown finished first in all three of her events (400 individual medley, 400 freestyle and 200 breaststroke). She was two seconds off the national record, and five seconds off the world record in the 400 IM with a time of 5:08.
Other national titles were claimed by Liz Hawes and Cindy Braden. Hawes placed first in the 200 fly, second in the 400 free, 400 IM and 50 Back. Braden won the 200 butterlfy, was sixth in the 100 fly and 12th in the 400 free.
On the men?s side, Michael Power was second in the 100 free in 56.81, third in the 50 fly and 50 back, and fourth in the 50 Free.
Michael Acton was 14th in the 50 back, 17th in the 50 breast. Santa Barbara Swim Club Master?s Coach John Abrami was 15th in the 200 breast.
The team also placed fifth in the 200 Medley Relay with the team of Hawes, Abrami, Power and Brown.
