The U15 Boys White team from Santa Barbara Soccer Club clinched its second straight US Youth Soccer National Championship on Saturday with a 2-1 overtime win over Dix Hills Elite of New York.
Lucky Puengrod’s overtime goal was the game-winner for Santa Barbara, which took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Sahid Conteh.
Conteh scored in the 26th minute to give Santa Barbara the initial edge. The score held until the 65th minute when Dix Hills’ Christopher McAuliffe converted a corner kick to tie the game.
Puengrod scored on a penalty kick in the second overtime.
Santa Barbara was 3-0-1 at the national tournament in Overland Park, Kansas.
