The local team of Christian Love and Steve Byrd won the men’s 45-and-over division at the California Beach Volleyball Association Master’s Tournament over the weekend at East Beach.
Love and Byrd were the only local winners out of three divisions. They defeated Joe Erikat and Mitch Siemens of San Luis Obispo and Arroyo Grande, 28-14. The local teams of Mark Foreman-Jeff Rydberg and Henry Chin-Joe Gagnon tied for third.
In the men’s 37-44 division, John Braunstein-Jonathan Nino of Costa defeated Chris Guigliano-Tim Nestlerode of Santa Barbara, 21-16, 26-24. Third place went to local teams Morgan Mainz-Will Harris and Adam Phillips-Zak DeMateo.
The women’s 37-over title went three sets, with Roseanne Landay-Vladia Vignato of Pacific Palisades and L.A. outlasting Ilga Celmins-Jackie Campbell of Aptos and Santa Barbara, 21-11, 16-21, 15-11. The third-place finishers were Kelly Drobeck-Tina Kinkead of San Diego and the local team of Michelle Koabshi-Margo Ochoa.
The tournament was part of the Semana Nautica summer sports festival.
