G-Land Baseball 16u won the Silver Bracket this past weekend at Triple Crown’s Central Coast Showdown
The U16 team from the Goleta (G-Land) Baseball Club rallied to defeat the Central Valley Marlins 7-6 in the championship game of Triple Crown Central Coast Showdown.
Trailing 4-0 entering the 5th inning of the Silver Bracket Championship game in Pismo Beach, Goleta produced 4 runs on a bases clearing triple by Dos Pueblos Junior Will Macfarlane, who then scored on a wild pitch.
Tied 4-4 heading into the top of the eight, Gio Macias led off with a huge double off the left field fence and as was belted in by a scortching line drive to left center by Dustin Demeter. G-Land wasn’t finished there; 4 pitches later, Jon (Morris) Sloan cracked a line drive single in the right center field gap that scored Demeter. Up 7-4 heading into the bottom of the 8th, G-Land was able to hold off a vicious rally by the home team. The Marlins had the winning run at 2nd base with 2 outs but a deep fly to center field was snatched for the 7-6 victory!
G-Land’s 16u team include, Jose Avila,Travis Craven, Dustin Demeter, Gio Macias, Adrian Melero, Dalton Mitchell, WIll Macfarlane, David McCarthy, Louie Shalhoob and Nate Watson.
