Keara Rutz puts up the set for Taylor Roberson in another come from behind win to reach the finals in Pacific Palisades.
Taylor Robertson and Keara Rutz placed 2nd in the California Beach Volleyball Association tournament on Saturday in Pacific Palisades.
Playing their second tournament together in the 12 and under division and after a 3rd place finish on May 4th, Taylor and Keara made it to the finals after several come from behind wins.
After winning pool play under perfect overcast conditions, Keara and Taylor fell behind 10-18 in their first playoff match. A smart timeout was taken where they regrouped and came out swinging to take the match 28-24. In the semi-final match they found themselves behind again 8-19 but 8 straight service winners by Keara got them right back into the match. Tied at 24 all, Taylor made a clutch touch shot to take the lead and served out the match.
In the finals against the nationally ranked pair of Mandalay Rennon and Maia Hannemann, Keara and Taylor found themselves behind again but this time weren’t able to get back into the match losing 28-9.
