Dos Pueblos distance runner Addi Zerrenner has been named a Santa Barbara Running Co. High School Runner of the Month.
Zerrenner reached the CIF-ss Track & Field Championships in May, finishing 9th in the 3200 meters. The soon-to-be senior will enter her final year of high school with multiple Santa Barbara County Championship titles to her name in both cross country and track & field.
“For me, the thing I love about running is that it doesn’t take much. You just put on a pair of shoes and you can go where ever you want,” Zerrenner said.
Zerrenner can often be seen around the Dos Pueblos campus putting in dozens of training miles each week while in season.
“Her passion for running is phenomenal!,” expressed Chargers head track coach Chris Mollkoy. “She is a real student of her training regiment and has worked with a few different experts this season to increase her fitness level. She is such a great young lady and I’m so blessed to have her on our team.”
Zerrenner holds the Santa Barbara County Championship meet record in both the 1600 and 3200 meters and was recently named the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athlete of the Year for high school cross country for the second straight year.
Last summer, Zerrenner volunteered to work with local youths at Club West’s summer camp. Her leadership skills extend beyond the track as she was voted junior class president and participates?in the Red Cross Club at Dos Pueblos.
