Goleta’s Madi Pickett struck out 23 batters in the Simi Valley Tournament

The Goleta Thunder’s 14-under softball team took another title at the Simi Valley Tournament outscoring their opponents 45-3 and improving their record to 22-1.
Elly Cutcliffe and Madi Pickett dominated the mound. Cutcliffe didn?t allow any earned runs and Pickett had a total of 23 strikeouts.
Thunder?s offense remained powerful throughout the tournament. Anya Schmitz hit a three-run home run in the semi-finals to help Thunder advance to the finals.
Cate Clancy and Samantha Yanes performed offensively contributing to the team?s high batting average of .440. Thunder plays in the Triple Crown tournament in Irvine June 22-23.
