DPLL 9/10s remain unbeaten

Dos Pueblos Little League 9/10-Year Old All-Stars are guaranteed a spot in next weekend’s double-elimination tournament for the District 63 title after an 11-0 victory over Carpinteria Valley on Saturday at Girsh Park.

Dos Pueblos’ Ty Montgomery pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings for the win, while Cole Philip led the offensive attack with a two-run homer and RBI single. Thomas Mock pitched in relief of Montgomery in the sixth, striking out two. Dos Pueblos scattered four Carpinteria hits while committing zero errors.

Dos Pueblos, which didn’t score its first run until the third inning, exploded for six runs in the fifth behind Philip’s homer, a hit by Mock and three walks.

In the sixth inning, Dos Pueblos plated four more runs behind hits by Dylan Borgeson, Jackson Greaney and Philip.

Dos Pueblos will play Montalvo on Monday, June 24, at 5 p.m. at Girsh Park before traveling to Saticoy to begin its quest for the title on Saturday, June 29.

In its first three All-Star games, Dos Pueblos has beaten its opponents by a combined score of 39-0.
