An eight-run fifth inning powered Goleta Valley South’s 11-year-old All-Stars past visiting Dos Pueblos in Sunday’s 11-1 decision.
Nico Martinez was 4-for-4 at the plate and earned the victory while pitching for GSVLL. Martinez struck out five batters in 4 2/3 innings.
Up 1-0 going into the fourth inning, Jack Winterbauer added to the lead with a two-run home run. GVSLL then added eight more runs in the fifth.
Isaac Villarreal and Jacob Galindo were both 3-for-4 on offense. Diego Sandoval also had three hits in the game, including two in fifth inning alone.
