San Marcos’ three athletes at the CIF-ss Track & Field Championships on Saturday all posted personal bests while competing in the Division 3 meet.
Caroline Vance recorded a fifth place in the triple jump and a sixth place in the long jump. Vance, a senior, improved six inches on her final jump of the triple jump with a distance of 36 feet, 11 3/4 inches.
Vance leaped 16-10.75 on her third jump in the long jump. Harvard-Westlake freshman Courtney Corrin won the CIF title 20-09.00, just a few inches off the all-time Southern Section Division-3 record.
Charlotte Garratt cleared 5’3″ for the first time in her career and recorded a sixth-place result in the high jump.
“She was very excited,” said Royals head coach Marilyn Hantgin.
Michael Orosco-Moore finished 7th place in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 51’11.25″.
“A good way to end three great careers, so it was a pretty fun day,” Hantgin said.
