Dos Pueblos junior Stamatia Scarvelis won two CIF-ss Division-2 titles at Saturday’s CIF Track & Field Championships at Mt. SAC.
Scarvelis won her second Southern Section shot put title and her first in the discus. Her winning distance in the shot put was 49 feet, 4 1/2 inches. In the discus, it was a career-best 161’6″. Arroyo Grande’s Madison Jacobs finished second in both events.
Each of Scarvelis’ four attempts in the discus went farther that the previous throw. Her final attempt of 161-6 was over five-feet better than her third throw.
Scarvelis’ winning throw in the shot put came on the third of four attempts.
Dos Pueblos’ Bryan Fernandez placed second in the boys 1600 with a time of 4:12.62 but was only seventh in the boys 3200 meters with a time of 4:34.76.
Emma Redick recorded a nine-place result in the girls 400 meters. Addi Zerrenner netted a ninth-place for the girls team in the 3200-meter race.
Sydney Eilbacher earned a fourth-place finish in the pole vault.
The Master’s Meet is Friday at Cerritos College.
