San Marcos made its first appearance at the CIF-ss Division 1 Swimming Finals since 2004 on Saturday and did not disappoint.
The Royals’ 200 freestyle relay team improved on its seeding and placed 11th overall with a time of 1:39.65. The time is a San Marcos school record.
Better yet for the Royals, all four swimmers – Dasha Depew, Maddie Kriz, Grace Pizzinat and Olivia Smith – return next season.
Smith, a freshman, was also competing individually and placed 17th in the 50 free with a time of 24.47.
“It’s been a great season and the Royals look forward to building on this year’s experience,” said San Marcos head coach Chuckie Roth.
