Alex Valente and Blake Parrish and the 200 medley relay team from Dos Pueblos qualified for the championship finals at the CIF Division 1 Swim Prelims on Thursday at the Riverside Aquatics Complex.
Valente clocked 48.18 to take first-place in the the 100 butterfly and finished ninth in the 100 backstroke in 51.99. The finals in those swims will be Saturday night.
Parrish finished third in the 100 breaststroke in 56.92 and was part of the 200 medley team with Walker Bell, Valente and Grant Schroeder that placed fourth in 1:33.80.
The 400 free relay team of Schroeder, Bell, Valente and Parrish made the consolation final after placing 14th in the prelims in 3:10.98.
The Chargers’ 200 free relay team of Schroeder, Graham Young, Parrish and Ryan Montag swam 1:27.79 for 13th place, qualifying them for Saturday’s consolation finals.
Bell will swim in the consolation finals in the 200 IM and 500 free. He placed 16th at the prelims in the 500 (4:36.54) and 17th in the 200 IM (1:54.90)
The DP girls 400 free relay just missed the championship final, taking 10th in 3:35.37. They’ll swim in the consolation final. Relay team members are Shannon Cleary, Regan Eickert, Maelyn Adornetto and Nguyen.
Janelle Nguyen will swim in the consolation finals of the 200 IM and 500 free. She was 10th in the 200 IM (2:07.09) and 17th in the 500 (5:03.06).
