The Girls U17 team from Santa Barbara Soccer Club won its division at the Cerritos Memorial Challenge Cup, the largest tournament in the Western United States over the long weekend.

Santa Barbara defeated Striker FC Sanger in the semifinals before edging Yucaipa Athletic 2-1 on Monday in the tournament final. SBSC outscored its opponents 12-2 in five matches and featured seven different goal scorers.

In the semifinals, goalkeeper Hannah Harrah blocked two shots in a shootout to help Santa Barbara advance.

It was the last competition representing Santa Barbara Soccer Club for players Jamie Benedetto, Kayla Klopstein and Mari Solis. Also on the team are Hannah Brisby,?Natalie Cvitanic, Sydney Hunt, Emma Jones, Annelise Morando,?Ava Nania, Leah Parlato, Izzy Rodriguez, Summer Soriano, Megan Stevens and?Emma Trumbull.

The Cerritos Memorial Challenge Cup is rated as the top tournament in the country over the Memorial Day Weekend and a top-10 tournament annually.
