Requejo playing for U.S. Under-18 team in Portugal

Carpinteria’s Johnny Requejo Jr. is playing for the U.S. Under-18 National Men’s Soccer Team at the Lisbon International Tournament.

Requejo, who was one of three players called up from the U-17 team, started at left fullback in a 3-0 win over the Czech Republic and a 1-1 tie against Portugal.

The team plays Hungary on Saturday for a possible spot in the final.

Requejo has been in residency for the last two years with the U.S. under-17 team in Bradenton, Fla. The team failed to qualify for the U-17 World Cup.

Requejo has signed a letter of intent with UCLA.
