Santa Barbara High’s James Morton shot a 4-over par 76 at the CIF-SCGA Championship at Brookside Golf Club in Pasadena on Thursday and did not qualify for the state tournament.
It was the last high school round for Morton, who will next compete in California State Amateur at Monterey Peninsula GC in June.
Jack Chung of Sunny Hills won the CIF-SCGA Tournament with a 6-under 66.
Santa Barbara coach James Bedard said Morton “struggled with ball striking and that made it difficult to score and stay consistent.
“Overall, he has had a great career at Santa Barbara High and has a lot to look forward to,” the coach added.
