Bishop Diego’s boys volleyball team fell to Foothill High School on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Division-2 CIF Tournament. Game scores were 25-21, 25-9, 25-18.
“We went toe to toe with them in the first game and nearly pulled off the upset,” reported Cardinals head coach Jason Donnelly. “Unfortunately our ball control broke down and we were unable to get them out of system.”
Foothill, now 20-11, is a second-place team from the Century League.
Will Busch colected seven kills and seven digs in the match. Jose del Campo, with five kills, and Chandler Swift, with another five kills, made an impact.
The Cardinals finished third in the Tri-Valley League this season and end up with a winning record of 8-7.
“We made some great improvements this year and reached our goal of making the playoffs,” Donnelly said.
