Bishop Diego’s baseball team clinched second place in the Tri-Valley League with a 9-0 shutout of Grace Brethren on Tuesday.
Nolan Tooley got the job done on the mound for the Cardinals, striking out 14 batters in seven innings. Tooley’s strong game included limiting Grace to two hits and going 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBI.
Scott Mandrell was also 3-for-4 for Bishop Diego, which has a league record of 6-3. Oaks Christian is the outright champion with a current record of 9-0.
The Cardinals wrap up the regular season with another game against Grace Brethren on Thursday. CIF Playoff pairings will be released over the weekend.
