Carpinteria’s baseball team upped its Frontier League record to 8-4 on Wednesday with an 8-4 victory over Fillmore.
Max Damron earned the victory for the Warriors, striking out four in six innings of work. Damron only allowed one earned run and added a double at the plate.
Damron enjoyed plenty of run support as the Warriors scored five runs in the first two innings.
“Max was especially steady mentally and the offense set the tone early,” said Warriors head coach Pat Cooney.
Four Warriors recorded two hits in the game. Marcus Hutchinson, Duncan Gordon, Kevin Stein and Anthony Rodriguez combined for eight of Carpinteria’s 11 hits.
“It was a much needed and hard earned win,” Cooney said. “This team is putting in time and effort with the hopes of earning a playoff spot. It’s great to see this team developing an identity of its own. We need to get right back to work and prepare for the Flashes again.”
Fillmore will travel to Carpinteria on Friday for the second matchup of the week.
