TRK: Royals roll out victories over Dons

San Marcos’ track & field teams swept Wednesday’s Channel League meet with Santa Barbara High at Warkentin Stadium. The boys defeated the Dons 94-32 and the girls 94-33.

Jill Fisher, Kaitlyn Kuehn and Caroline Vance all won multiple events for the San Marcos girls.

Joe Prince led the boys team with two wins in the long jump and triple jump. His triple jump distance was a personal best by a full foot.

“Santa Barbara is a really good team and we weren’t taking them lightly,” said Royals head coach Marilyn Hantgin.

Josh Hoeflich stepped up for the Royals with two personal bests. Hoeflich’s PR in the discus won the event and edged teammate Michael Orosco-Moore with a throw of 145’1″. Hoeflich was third in the shot put.

Fisher won the 100 and 200, Kuehn the 800 and 1600, and Vance captured the long jump and triple jump.

Walker Odell was strong in the 800 with a time of 2:03.59. Elijah Johnson claimed a victory in the 400.

The Dons captured a handful of events, including the both 4×100 relays. Finn Arnesen, Roosevelt Adderly, Andres Castro and Brenton Walker combined for the boys, while the girls team consisted of Natasha Feshbach, Madison Terry, Siena Salgado and Madison Carlentine.

Walker also won the high jump and was second in the long jump for the boys.
