SBCC’s Logan Liddell and Carlo Bierbaum both reached the WSC Tournament quarterfinals on Saturday at Ventura College to earn spots in the Southern Cal Regional men’s tennis tournament.
For the first time, the So Cal and State individual championships will be held at The Ojai Tournament on April 25-28.
Liddell beat Zach Pitman of Ventura 7-6 (5), 6-4 in the Round of 16 while Bierbaum downed Andrew You of Glendale 7-5, 6-4. The WSC tourney ends at the quarterfinal stage.
In doubles, Liddell and Fabian Lundberg defeated Pitman and Andy Dervot 6-1, 6-4 to qualify in the main draw. In the back draw, Bierbaum/Soufiane El Mhamdi of SBCC outlasted Santiago Segovia/Son Tran of Glendale 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (4) in a 3-hour, 45-minute marathon.
Daniel Barrington/Eduardo Baccini also qualified in the back draw, beating their Vaquero teammates, Marius Moelsgaard/John Knight 6-0, 6-3.
