Logan Liddell and Fabian Lundberg of SBCC refused to lose on Friday in the State Men’s Tennis Championships at the 113th Ojai Tournament.
The duo, seeded No. 5 in doubles, rallied past No. 12 Brandon Lew-Gerald Mahone of Chabot 2-6, 6-4 (10-8) at Pacifica High in Oxnard. In the Round of 16, they outlasted No. 13 Rafa Peroli-Carlos Val of College of the Desert 6-1, 4-6 (10-8).
“Two matches and two championship tiebreakers,” said coach Lance Kronberg. “That was nerve-wracking.”
Liddell-Lundberg will take on No. 2 Danny Garcia-Jordan Gobatie of Riverside in Saturday’s quarterfinals at the Ojai Athletic Club, starting at 2 p.m.
Earlier in singles, Liddell lost to No. 4 Andrew Amor of American River 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the Round of 32.
