Petar Jivkov and Owen Lincoln swept their singles matches, pacing San Marcos to an 11-7 non-league boys tennis win over Cate on Friday.
Jivkov lost only one game on the day, and the doubles team of Luca Ferrari and Jake Wheelock lost just two games in going 3-0.
By contrast, Lincoln won three tough sets by scores of 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1) and 7-5.
Another bright spot for San Marcos was the play of Mathis McComb and Ramin Parvin in the third round, defeating the Rams No. 1 doubles team 6-3.
“Mathis and Ramin were scintillating,” coach Jarrod Bradley said. “Mathis was in a zone on his forehand and Ramin was dialed in with down-the-line returns from the ad court.”
