Santa Barbara High’s boys tennis team disposed Mira Costa on Friday by a wider margin than their rankings would suggest, with the Dons coming away with a 13-5 victory.
Santa Barbara, ranked No. 6 in Division 1 compared to Mira Costa’s No. 8, led 9-3 after two rounds of play.
“There were many close matches but the Dons were extremely focused and played their best tennis of the season,” reported Santa Barbara head coach Greg Tebbe.
Graham Maassen claimed all three of his sets at the top of the singles lineup for Santa Barbara, which won the match by sweeping all nine doubles sets.
The Dons return to Channel League play on Monday when they travel to Dos Pueblos.
