San Marcos’ girls swimming team knocked off Ventura 91-89 in Friday’s Channel League meet. It was the first time that had happened in over a decade.
The Ventura boys evened the score with a 134-49 win over the Royals.
Dasha Depew won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.36 while Olivia Smith won the 100 butterfly in 1:02.62. Depew and Smith also recorded second-place finishes for the Royals.
Megan Bergthold swam a personal best time in the 200 free, while freshman Kate Coski posted two PRs to earn points.
Grace Pizzinat added another victory for the San Marcos girls in the 100 backstroke.
