Bishop Diego’s offense had a tough time getting anything going in a non-league softball doubleheader against Santa Barbara on Saturday. The Cardinals lost both games by scores of 8-1 and 5-1.
Coleen Duley singled in Ali Everson for the Cardinals’ run in the opener and Madison Ballard-Rozok brought home Everson for the run in the nightcap.
Ballard-Rozok allowed only two earned runs and went the distance on the mound in the opener. She pitched one inning in the second game.
Ava DeNunzio gave up one earned run in six innings in the nightcap.
“Errors proved to be the difference,” said Bishop coach Tom Beamer.
Beamer cited the play of freshman right fielder Sarah Leicht, who made two running catches in the second game.
