Westmont soccer player Alison Hensley was named as the Warriors’ Athletic Round Table Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Monday.
Hensley, originally from Huntington Beach, is a junior captain for the women’s soccer team and holds at GPA of 3.97. Hensley double majors in math and spanish and is has been recognized as an all-academic student-athlete in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Hensley took a few minutes at the podium to thank those who have supported her throughout the college experience and discussed the off-the-field community projects she has become passionate about.
“Everyone who just supports me on and off the field ,” Hensley said. “I really wouldn’t be able to do what I do without that systyem of support.”
Hensley spent time in Ecuador using soccer as a way to create opportunities for local youth. Hensley is looking forward to a trip with the women’s soccer team this summer to Kenya and Uganda.
“Al has been a scholar-athlete and an All-American, she has won eight awards this spring, and will serve two years in the roll of captain,” said Warriors head coach Kristi Kiely. “But what I’m most proud of for Al is the transformation she’s been through, and still sort of in, in setting aside the notion of perfection and beginning the work of becoming herself.”
