The Boys & Girls Club Ballers Basketball teams dominated at the 16th Annual Ventura Seaside Basketball Tournament last weekend, with 4 1st place titles, one 2nd and one 3rd among 7 Ballers teams. More than 150 teams participated in this year’s tournament.
First place trophies went to the 3rd grade, 7th grade, Jr. Varsity and Varsity teams. The 5th grade team took 2nd and the 6th grade team took 3rd place; both lost just 1 game in the tournament. The recently started Girls’ High School Ballers played in their first tournament this year.
“We had 7 teams in the tournament, 5 of them made it to the championship round and 4 of them took it home,” said Manny Murillo, coach and assistant athletic director. “They played hard, smart, and as a family. I was proud to be a part of the best basketball program in the city last weekend, the Santa Barbara Ballers!”
