Skyler Sabado hit a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift Santa Barbara Hight to a 2-1 win over Ventura in a Channel League baseball game at Eddie Mathews Field on Friday.
The win lifted the Dons to 4-2 in league play (11-5 overall) and avenged an earlier loss to the Cougars (9-9, 2-3) at Eddie Mathews.
Evan Smith picked up the win for the Dons in relief of starter Jeff Paschke, who limited Ventura to one hit and one unearned run over five innings. Johnny Brontsema pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to earn his third save of the season.
Toby Minehan had three singles to lead Santa Barbara’s seven-hit attack.
The Dons are back in action Saturday at the Chatsworth Tournament.
