Santa Barbara High’s boys golf team finished 24 strokes back of champion Long Beach Wilson at this week’s Champions Invitational, a three-day tournament at Terra Lago GC that finished on Friday.
Wilson’s winning score totaled 890. Stevenson finished two strokes back at 892 and Loyola was third at 895.
Tyler Moore of San Pascual won the tournament with a final round 6-under par 66 for a 3 round total of 7-under 209.
James Morton, 22nd overall individually, gave Santa Barbara its low score with a 223. Jonathan Collins was next with 228 and Ryan Stoll was in 53rd place with a total of 229.
“This is always a great tournament with a great field and I think we just tired a bit in the last round,” reported Dons head coach James Bedard. “Still, a top-10 finish is very encouraging with the strength of the field that was present. These types of events are to help us get ready for the rest of the Channel League schedule and playoffs.”
