Freshman Blake McPherson tied his season best with an even-par 72 on Monday and SBCC took second in WSC No. 6 at Santa Maria Country Club.
Steven Lam and Dodge Ward added 75s for the Vaqueros, who totaled 378 strokes and finished 11 back of the winner, Canyons. Glendale was third at 379, just one stroke behind Santa Barbara.
Sidney Wolf of the Cougars was the medalist after shooting 68 for the second straight tourney.
Canyons leads the WSC at 36-0, followed by SBCC at 29-7 and Ventura (19-17).
“We got some rain in the morning and that made the rough and the overall conditions tough,” said coach Chuck Melendez. “We had some good rounds going but couldn’t finish them. It wasn’t our best day but I’m happy to get out of here with second place.”
WSC No. 7 is set for Monday at San Dimas GC, starting at 11 a.m.
