Steven Lam shot 74 on a windy Monday at San Dimas Canyon GC and SBCC took third place in WSC No. 7.
Canyons won its seventh straight men’s golf meet at 369. Citrus, the host school, was second at 384. SBCC and Glendale tied at 389 and Santa Barbara took third, thanks to a better sixth-man score.
Lam tied for sixth in the 42-player field. Charlie Holyoke and Johnny Hogan both shot 78 for the Vaqueros on a challenging day. Sidney Wolf of Canyons was the medalist for the third straight WSC event, shooting 2-under 70.
“It was a tough course and we weren’t familiar with it,“ said coach Chuck Melendez. “When you add in the wind, which was gusting up to 40-45 mph, it was tough all around.”
Canyons is first in the WSC standings at 42-0, followed by SBCC (33-9), Ventura (21-21) and Glendale (21-21).
SBCC, Ventura and Glendale will compete in the Ventura Invitational on Wednesday at Soule Park, starting at 10:30 a.m.
