Robby Nesovic has been named the Big West Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday morning.
Nesovic led the Gauchos to an upset win over No. 4 Cal State Fullerton on Sunday with a 6 2/3 inning shutout effort. It was the first time that UCSB had beat the Titans at Goodwin Field since 2007.
Facing the best statistical offense in the conference, the freshman righty allowed just four hits over his outing, and only allowed a runner to reach third base on one occasion. He pitched exceedingly well under pressure, inducing a pair of double play balls and striking out two more.
It was only Nesovic’s third career start for UCSB.
Robby and the rest of the Gaucho will travel south tomorrow to take on the University of San Diego Toreros in a midweek night game. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
