Bishop Diego’s boys volleyball team clinched a playoff berth on Tuesday with a 25-14, 25-23, 26-28, 25-14 Tri-Valley League victory over Fillmore.
The Cardinals earned third place in league play with an 8-4 record.
“Playing in a tough league, our goal was to make the playoffs. We had to work to get it done, and that is very rewarding for our players,” explained Cardinals head coach Jason Donnelly.
Bishop Diego’s Will Busch, Grant Sexton and Chandler Swift mobilized the effort. Busch and Sexton matched each other’s 10 kills while Busch added four blocks. Swift collected eight kills, five digs and two aces.
“Chandler has really raised his level of play the past couple of weeks. We expect a lot from him and his play helped us get where we are,” Donnelly said.
Playoff pairings will be released on Sunday.
