Santa Clara bested Carpinteria’s baseball team 4-1 on Wednesday in a Frontier League game.
The Warriors were winning 1-0 before giving up all four runs in the final two frames.
After a 4-0 start in league play, the Warriors are now 4-2.
“We are having some confidence issues,” noted Carpinteria head coach Pat Cooney. “It will be important to follow the players on the team that know they can get the job done. If we can get a positive way of thinking to become contagious, we should get back on the right track. For now, we just need to do as many little things right as we can.”
The Warriors scored their run on a sacrifice fly by Anthony Rodriguez in the third inning. Joe Caudillo tagged up to score the run.
Santa Clara’s Christian Torres pitched a complete game and improved his record to 3-1.
Jamie Lopez drove in two of the Saints’ runs on two hits.
David Olvera, Keven Stein and Nick Walker recorded hits for the Warriors.
The two teams play again on Friday.
