Carpinteria freshman Diego Contreras pitched a six-inning complete game in his first high school start on Monday as the Warriors topped Thacher 22-2 in a non-league game.
The Warriors’ young southpaw struck out three and scattered seven hits.
Carpinteria’s offense was powered by a 4 hits each from Kevin Stein and Duncan Gordon. Stein connected for three doubles, scored three runs and drove in another three runs. Gordon recorded four RBIs and scored twice. Marcus Hutchinson had two doubles, three runs and two RBI.
The Warriors return to Frontier League play on Wednesday with a game at home against Fillmore.
