Four the fourth time this season, Westmont’s Tugce Canitez has been named the NAIA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The award was given out for just nine weeks this season.
Canitez was recognized for her play against San Diego Christian in the Golden State Athletic Conference semifinals in which she scored 27 points and pulled down 20 rebounds. She also recorded four assists.
Earlier this week, Canitez was announced as the Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year.
Canitez, who has 19 double-doubles on the season, made seven of 13 attempts from the floor and 13 of 16 from the free throw line.
Westmont will begin play in the NAIA National Tournament next week. The Warriors’ opponent and seeding will be announced on Wednesday.
