The Royals had a great day down in Ventura at the Ventura Invitational on Saturday. There were 25 schools represented at the very competitive meet.
Caroline Vance won the long jump and took second in the triple jump to highlight San Marcos’ day.
Vance, who came out to the team after a successful soccer season, went 16-8 in the long jump and 33-11 in the triple.
“She is really having a great start to her senior season,” said San Marcos coach Marilyn Hantgin.
In other results for the Royals, Joe Prince continued to impress in the jumps. He finished third in the long jump (20-1) and third in the triple jump (41-6.5)
Michael Orosco-Moore was third in the shot put (47 feet) and sixth in the discus (135-01).
In the relays, the girls 4 x 800 (Rachel Tracy, Jewel Fisher, Kaitlyn Kuehn, and Jordan Jenkins) took third third; the boys 4 x 1600 (Ryan Sornsen, Eric Salas, Walker Odell, and Alex Heuchert) got fifth; the boys 4 x 400 relay (Jesus Munoz, Alex Heuchert, Ian Hall, and Eric Salas) finished fourth in 3:27, and the distance medley relay (Eric Salas, Walker Odell, Elijah Johnson, and Ryan Sorensen) was fifth overall.
