San Marcos’ boys and girls swim teams turned back Oxnard in Friday’s dual meet with the Yellowjackets. The boys won 108-61 and the girls 117-48.
Simone Andretto and Spencer Kemp were double-winners for San Marcos in individual events, plus both contributed to victories in the 200-medley and 400-free relays. Kemp’s win in the 100 breaststroke came in a personal best 1:09.50.
George Kuesis won the 100 free and Chase McFadden claimed the 100 backstroke for the Royals in their first dual meet of the season.
The highlight for the girls team was Olivia Smith. The freshman broke a school record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:00.81. Another freshman swimming for the Royals, Maddie Kriz, won two events in the 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle. Smith and Kriz were also on the 200 freestyle relay team that recorded a CIF consideration time with teammates Grace Pizzinat and Dasha Depew.
Pizzinat posted a personal best while winning the 200 IM in a time of 2:24.00.
The Royals earned another CIF consideration time in the 200 medley relay. Pizzinat, Smith, Depew and Megan Riley won the race with a time of 1:45.41.
