A disqualification on the final event enabled Santa Barbara High’s boys swim team to beat Ventura, 91-89, in a Channel League dual meet on Thursday at the Dons pool.
The Cougars were disqualified in the 400 free relay when one of their swimmers failed to exit the pool before his teammate got to the wall.
Tarry Burkhardt won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke in CIF consideration times and also was on two winning relays. Carter Kimball and Kyle Davis went 1-2 in diving.
For the girls, Santa Barbara won 114-69.
Claire Lindstrom got the Dons off to a good start with a victory in diving. Kelsey O’Brien followed with wins in the 50 and 100 freestyles. She also swam on two winning relay teams. Dana Sloan captured the 200 free, was second in the 100 free and was part of two winning relay teams.
Madeline Trabucco won the 100 breast, finished second in the 50 freestyle and was on two winning relays.
Both girls and boys are 2-0 and host Fountain Valley on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
