SBCC took a 2-0 lead in Tuesday’s WSC Gold softball game at Ventura but the Pirates rallied for five runs in the fourth and fifth and went on to beat the Vaqueros 5-3.
Santa Barbara (7-16, 3-3) went ahead 2-0 in the third when Tianna Velasquez singled, stole second and scored on a double by Victoria Lucido. Sierra Lujano brought Lucido home with an RBI single.
Sammy Cabada went 2-4 for SBCC, which outhit the Pirates 9-5.
Ventura (8-10, 3-1) scored three in the fourth and two in the fifth to grab a 5-2 advantage. Pinch hitter Natalie Orosco made it 5-3 with an RBI single in the sixth.
The Vaqueros open a seven-game homestand on Thursday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Oxnard.
