SBCC went 1-1 on the final day of the Bakersfield Classic on Sunday, shutting out Bakersfield 12-0 and losing to Saddleback 12-2. Both softball games ended after five innings due to the eight-run rule.
Victoria Lucido threw a one-hitter vs. Bakersfield and Natalie Orosco went 4-4 with five RBIs for the Vaqueros (7-15). Orosco delivered a three-run double during a seven-run third inning that boosted the lead to 9-0.
Alice Cen went 3-4 with three RBIs and Lucido and Samantha Cabada were both 2-4 with two RBIs. Amanda Caras had two of SBCC‘s five doubles and the Vaqueros collected a season-high 16 hits.
In the second game, Saddleback homered twice to support the three-hit pitching of Tiffany McCracken. Alex Abbott knocked in both of Santa Barbara’s runs with a second-inning double.
The Vaqueros resume WSC Gold Division play on Tuesday when they travel to Ventura for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
