Catalina Maldonado and the Carpinteria Warriors topped Channel Islands on Wednesday 6-3 in a non-league matchup.
Maldonado pitched a complete game and was 3-for-4 at the plate. All three of her hits were for extra bases, as the senior connected for two doubles and a triple. Maldonado drove in two runs and struck out nine batters while pitching.
Two more triples in the second inning by Hannah Galsterer and Serena Requejo were big parts of a three-run inning. The Warriors added one more run in the third inning and two more in the 6th.
Carpinteria led 6-0 before Channel Islands broke through with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Warriors head coach Henry Gonzalez was happy with the victory but still is hoping to see his team play better defense.
Carpinteria is now 6-4 on the season and plays Fillmore on Thursday in a Tri-Valley League contest.
