Veronika Gulvin struck out 17 batters and went 3-for-3 at the plate to get Dos Pueblos off to a good start Saturday at the Susan Manlet Invitational in Simi Valley.
Gulvin pitche a complete-game 7-0 shutout against Oak Park in the Chargers’ opener.
In the second game, Lani Evans pitched a 4-2 win over Paso Robles. The game was shortened to five innings because of a time limit.
The two wins put DP in the semifinals next Saturday.
Gulvin had a three-run triple and four RBIs in her dominating performance.
Monica Salas homered in the second inning against Paso Robles to get the Chargers’ offense rolling. Evans had nine strikeouts in her five innings of work.
