The Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s under-15 boys fell short in their quest to reach the final of the prestigious Dallas Cup, losing to Arsenal Soccer Club of Southern California 1-0 in the semifinals.
Arsenal scored the game-winning goal 15 minutes into the second half off of a long throw-in to the far post.
“We played well, controlled the tempo and possession, but we did not finish well today,” said SBSC coach Rudy Ybarra. “We created some quality chances but could not finish them off.
“Overall, it was a good performance playing good soccer.”
It was the only loss in the tournament for Santa Barbara, which went 4-1 and outscored its opponents 12-3.
