SBCC won the second set on Friday at Moorpark but the Raiders took the WSC men’s volleyball match 3-1. The scores were 25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 25-16.
“We ran a 6-2 offense with two setters, trying to get more guys involved,” said coach Armen Zakarian. “We had good energy all night and hit .230, which was 100 points higher than our last match.
“Moorpark’s middles were tough to stop and we didn’t pass well.”
Dakota Smith and Collin Cohen led the Vaqueros (4-11, 1-7) with nine kills apiece and Aquiles Montoya had eight kills and three blocks. Davis Grininger also had three blocks.
Brock Skriloff notched six kills in his first start of the season. Drew Hogan had 23 assists and Corey McDown contributed 13 assists and two aces.
The Vaqueros host Santa Monica on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
