SBCC had one of its best hitting matches on Friday night but Long Beach played a better all-around game in a 25-22, 25-15, 25-17 WSC men’s volleyball sweep.
The Vikings improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in conference with the home victory. Johnny Brand led the Vaqueros (4-8, 1-4) with 11 kills. Dakota Smith added eight kills and seven digs and Aquiles Montoya had eight kills, two blocks and hit .636.
“Long Beach brought its ‘A game’ and we didn’t,” said coach Armen Zakarian. “They played well and ran a fast offense.
“We had one of our highest hitting percentages (.259) but we didn’t pass or serve well.”
SBCC completes a three-match road trip on Friday, March 22 at El Camino.
